Who and What Exactly is "Our Trekking Tribe"?
About Us
We're a close-knit group of friends who live in the Atlanta area and have a ton in common. But the one thing that links this group together is...... camping. We all have other close friends, but they don't like roughing it like we do, so until they give up flying on planes and staying in hotels, this is "Our Trekking Tribe".
We are living our best lives as we trek across the countryside, sometimes far(headed to Moab soon) sometimes not so far – we like a lake that’s about 8miles away. Having a motorhome is sorta like having a lake house, mountain house, beach house, farm house and a bunch of other bucket list places -whenever you want. The biggest difference? Our campers are seriously depreciating assets. No financial sense whatsoever in buying the trailers, 5th wheels, and motorhomes that we bought. Nope! NONE. But, we can bring our shower, bed, clothes and overall DNA with us wherever we go and I for one, absolutely HATE staying in hotels.
Fun (well maybe not so fun) fact – before we got our motorhome my wife, Cindy would make me check for bedbugs at every single hotel we stayed at – it didn’t matter even if it was a 5-star Ritz. I HATED pulling the mattresses covers back and looking at what was there. Not anymore!
We’re all empty nesters, but also have in common that we are committed to our families and are crazy about our kids and grandkids. We’re all involved in our kids’ lives and consider them our best friends, but they’ve got their lives and I’m afraid I’d pine away if I didn’t have this group of wonderful friends to walk through life together.
The other common thread we share is our love of Jesus and what it means to be obedient to our Lord and savior. We often have deep conversations – mostly led by Steve Poe and Greg Sloan. They will usually ponder about some deep biblical thought and then toss out a question like “what do you think God requires of us” BAM – strap on your helmet and get ready for some thunder and chin scratching thinking. It’s awesome, and for those non-believers, my suggestion is just go with it – accept the bible as God’s word and follow what it says. I’ll bet your life will be undeniably improved.Try it, you won’t regret it.
You’ll find us laughing most of the time and I love watching the personalities of this group come to life through our short videos and conversations. We play board games, card games and talk A LOT about everything. Wins, losses, joy, sorrow, sickness, health, adventure, dreams and the realities of a life we consider blessed to have. We hope you laugh with us and enjoy the time.
Come along for the ride!
